The clinic is temporarily closed. We are currently closed and not taking new clients until mid-October / beginning of November. Julia Lott is recovering from knee surgery and expects to welcome new and returning clients around that time. The appointment request form will reopen closer to her recovery.

Frequently asked questions

Practical details about appointments and the Peterborough clinic.

How can I book an appointment?

Appointment scheduling will be done through Jane. Once Julia's account is ready, you'll be able to book your session and complete the necessary forms online. The booking link will be added here.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first visit is a 60-minute appointment. Julia takes a full history covering your medical background and your physical, mental and emotional circumstances, then does a head-to-toe assessment. That includes hands-on palpation of joints, muscles, bones and fascia. She'll explain what she finds, suggest a treatment plan, and start treatment with the time that's left.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, stretchy clothing such as sport or yoga pants works best. It lets Julia see your posture and move your joints freely during the assessment.

Does it hurt?

Most of the work is gentle. Stretching tight muscles and joints, or firm work on fascial adhesions, can be briefly uncomfortable. Tell Julia if anything feels like too much and she'll adjust. Some people feel a little sore for a day or so afterwards, much like after a good workout.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you, and Julia will discuss how often and for how long at your first visit. Many people notice a difference after about three weekly sessions, then come back every few weeks for maintenance.

Can you diagnose my condition or prescribe medication?

No. Manual osteopaths assess and treat many conditions that cause pain and dysfunction, but they don't diagnose or prescribe. Julia uses your history, a visual assessment, musculoskeletal tests and hands-on palpation to find the likely source of pain and build a plan. For a diagnosis or anything urgent, please see your doctor.

Which techniques do you use?

Treatment combines several osteopathic approaches with both gentle and firm pressure: articular mobilization, myofascial release, spinal manipulation, muscle energy techniques, light tissue stretching, craniosacral therapy, moving and static cupping, and Gua Sha. Julia tailors the mix to you.

How long are appointments?

Appointments are 25, 40 or 60 minutes. Your first visit is a 60-minute initial appointment, return clients are seen for 40 minutes, and a shorter 25-minute session is also available.

How much does treatment cost?

An initial appointment is 60 minutes and costs $144 plus HST. Return clients are seen for 40 minutes at $111 plus HST, and a 25-minute session is $66 plus HST.

Is treatment covered by my insurance?

Many extended health plans cover manual osteopathy. The clinic bills most major Ontario insurers directly through TELUS Health eClaims (Industrial Alliance is not available). Coverage depends on your plan, so check with your insurer that Julia is an approved provider before your visit.

How can I pay?

The clinic accepts cash, cheque and e-transfer. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.

Where are you, and is there parking?

You'll find us inside No9. North Clinic at 322 McDonnel St. Unit 1, on the corner of Reid and McDonnel in Peterborough. The clinic is fully wheelchair accessible, and there's plenty of free parking in the plaza.

Do you offer a referral thank-you?

Yes. Refer a new client and you'll receive 10% off a future treatment. Please confirm with the clinic when you book.
